I want to personally thank all the
Visual LandPro users that took the time out of their busy
schedule and emailed us their comments, suggestions, and
praises about our Visual LandPro 2000 software and our
services. In the last 20+ years that I’ve been involved
developing LandPro, we have done our very best to make
sure that each and every one of our clients were happy
with our software and services. I feel that we have
succeeded tremendously in the most part, and for that I
thank YOU. Your ideas, suggestions, patience, and
perseverance have paid off: Visual LandPro 2000 has truly
become the very best Land Management Software for the Oil,
Gas, and Mining industries. THANK YOU!
Below you will see comments from many of our clients. I
was touched when I read the kind words that many of you
wrote about our work. It truly means a lot to us. I
sincerely appreciate the fact that you chose Visual
LandPro 2000 to keep track of your land records. You had a
choice, and you selected us: if I can do anything for you
in order to make your day at the office working with
Visual LandPro a bit better, don’t hesitate to call or
email me – I would like to hear from you!

(Email to Paul Nielsen's land group 12/15/06)
Dear Paul,
Sandalwood has been using LandPro since August. I’ve been very pleased with the system and can recommend it to others.
LandPro is suitable not only for entities that need just a basic lease management system, but can also handle the needs of larger companies with more advanced lease management requirements. (In my research of available lease management programs, I reviewed products from 16 different software providers before selecting LandPro. There are other good providers, but LandPro seemed to best fit the needs here.)
During the LandPro training session I met 2 or 3 other Attorney/Landmen, who, like myself, had been in the business for close 30 years. We were all learning the basic data entry required to use the system, as well as touching on all of the advanced features of the system. The other Attorneys were working for small to medium sized independents that had also subscribed to LandPro. (I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn’t the only person with so much time in the business doing everything from relatively low level data entry to much more advanced land work.) |

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at LandPro Corp for all of the support that you have provided. I am looking forward to meeting everyone at the class in February. Bearkat Energy, LLC develops and sells Prospects. We are a Lease-driven company. We may drill down the road but for now we acquire, sell or farmout our leases. My role as the Geoscience Specialist is to create projects, load metes and bounds, culture data, wells, etc., maintain and map all Leases associated with Bearkat's AMIs. I also export this data from Everest to Petra, ArcView and PowerPoint for our G&G Staff.
Your current support staff has helped me meet a very important deadline prior to having taken the class. We have sold our Cobb Creek Prospect, millions of dollars are on the line and I have had to create 65 Metes and Bounds Tracts and over 100 subtracts, Link them to the tables in LandPro by Monday, January 27, 2008 without ever having used your applications. I will meet this deadline but I could not have done so with the help of Kyle, Daniel and Luigi. Kyle is not only providing support, he is also helping me set standards for Bearkat Employees to follow. LandPro is the direction that Bearkat chosen. And I believe that it is an exceptional application.
I have had to learn a great deal in a short period of time. I have been reading the Training Manuals but time has not been on my side so I'm just learning as I do the work. I have just discovered that some of the metes and bounds that our Landman gave me had missing calls which is why the polygons were not matching. I have pulled all of the legal descriptions and I reverifying some of the calls. I am correcting these problems today and I will be finished by this weekend! |

(Email to Luigi Ballatori 1/26/2007)
Mr. Ballatori,
This is the after action report that was filed within our company. It eloquently describes how LandPro has increased our corporate productivity. Now, thanks to your help, it will also link with our other databases to extract additional synergies from our data for our stakeholders.
BEFORE:
1. Before LandPro, we had several spreadsheets of information that were being kept manually for things such as critical dates, WI and Pay Decks, and basic lease summary information. This means the data was dependent on single individuals for accuracy and access. The larger the company got, the more daunting the task of keeping up with it.
2. Also, when questions were asked about leases or properties, it took several hours or days to research, calculate or otherwise formulate a response; and unless good notes were taken and left in the file, if the issue came up again, you had to redo the whole process...you only hope the answer comes out the same.
3. With the manual filing system, you had to physically go get the files and go through them. As a result, "work" files would exist in different offices and current information might not get shared, or worse, with turnover, might be lost. This can result in failure to protect company assets and failure to be in the best knowledgeable position when landowners or partners have questions or differing interpretations of their leases and agreements.
4. Lastly, but I'm sure I haven't addressed all problems inherent in a manual system, Settlements and other individual agreements can get overlooked or lost and we must rely on people's memories to insure we don't lose valuable information.
AFTER:
1. LandPro solves the foregoing issues by providing a readily accessible database of the of the company's land and contract assets.
2. As long as care and quality assurance is integral in the data upload, you do it once and it's forever in the system that is now accessible by numerous parties.
3. Those parties can continually update and improve the quality of the information and have ready access to the all of the historical efforts and agreements of others.
4. Response time to questions is greatly reduced and accuracy is consistent. As a result, we can be more responsive and have greater confidence in company positions with Landowners and partners.
5. We used quality people to upload and input data from reliable sources. We also retained one of those people to continue to "maintain" the system. This has two attributes: (i) you retain the knowledge gained from the input process, and (ii) if the person knows they are going to have to "live with" the information they input, they are more likely to ensure that it gets done correctly the first time.
6. Their are numerous report templates that can slice and dice the information to provide quick and meaningful use of the information, not matter how large the database gets.
7. The cost of maintaining our files and the risk of losing valuable information are greatly reduced.
IN SUMMARY, the ability to manage and protect the value of our land assets is greatly enhanced by having the LandPro Data System in place and operational. Thank you and your staff for your support in getting this system operational and customized. In 30 years, I have never experience better customer support from a software organization. |

Charles look at the LandPro VLP land system. It works great.
(email to Brian Klawinski, 1/24/2007)
Brian,
I love the new VLP-GIS and EVEREST GIS PROFESSIONAL. I can put my leases where they belong with cultural data (roads, surveys, wells, pipelines) and make great maps. The label features allow me to display the lease info I want and the annotation tools really help make the map informative.
I can create filters and maps that show where my expirations will be over a set period. Here the pink tracts were filtered for expirations from 01/01/07 to 01/01/10 in context with the prospect and other leases and lands. I even have a georeferenced structure map jpeg I can put underneath and see how the expirations relate to the prospect.
Also, the new ARCeverest beta "extension" for ArcView is working great. I can now open my Everest GIS maps directly within ArcView, and even link from ArcView straight into LandPro. Everest's feature which converts metes and bounds legal descriptions to maps is priceless; it makes ArcView a lot more useful for our needs. |

Hi Charles,
I saw your e-mail regarding a lease records system through Paul Nielsen’s e-mail network. In my opinion, the best there is for a small to mid-sized company is Visual LandPro, with the following contact information:
LUIGI S. BALLATORI
President, LandPro Corp
Office (281) 363-4213
Fax (281)292-9737
EMAIL: lb@landpro.com
http://www.landpro.com
Medallion owns overriding royalty interests in about 1500 wells in Webb & Zapata Counties, as well as non-operated working interests in about 50 to 60 exploration prospects and a couple of operated prospects. I did a lot of research on about 12 different companies at the time I selected LandPro about 6 or 7 years ago and I can’t say enough good things about their product (the reports work every time and offer great flexibility), reliability (we have never had a crash of the program) and support (Luigi and his team have given us an almost immediate response to any questions or problems). In addition, Luigi has developed a great GIS mapping program (Everest) that is much easier to use than Tobin’s similar program, which is ESRI-based.
Please feel free to call me if I can answer any questions for you or tell you anything about our experiences with LandPro, as well as other programs, and to share with you various recommendations and comments on some land management systems I’ve heard from lease analysts at other companies.

I have had the opportunity to work on many systems and Visual LandPro is my choice. I use LandPro in managing lease records and division orders for several smaller independent exploration companies. Nothing matches Visual LandPro for land administration.
The program is so flexible and allows me to serve my clients in an expedient manner. The program is customizable to each client; user defined reports are easy to design, as no programming language knowledge is necessary; and, it truly takes the lease from prospect to pipeline. Visual LandPro even calculates Division Orders based on the Lease information, WI decks, and ROY/ORRI decks at the lease level. It even calculates BPO and APO at the same time. The program has great export capability to EXCEL and/or WORD.
For those who want an accounting package to fit in with the land system, WOLFE PAK has a bridge to Visual LandPro.

Luigi, I have worked with you and the various LandPro Corporation software packages for over twelve years (way back when it was B&B Software’s LandPro 2 o 3), and with each release it improved. As with any new system or software product, it takes a little time to get familiar with it, however, it is minimal compared to other systems. Once properly indoctrinated, we found VLP2000 not only met all of our needs, it exceeded our expectations. Although the system is able to handle much more information than we may ever need or want, it is one of the most user-friendly or least cumbersome systems I have ever seen. I worked many years for a large corporation which used very expensive and sophisticated systems, and that was all fine and well. But all those things came to an end when the corporation sold its Oil and Gas Division(s) in 1989. I then worked contract for a year or so. During this time, I shopped around for land systems, ending up with LandPro. Ultimately, I set up three companies of various sizes using LandPro, and never regretted choosing them. If ever I were to find myself in that position again, I would definitely choose LandPro Corporation again as my land records system provider. I much prefer LandPro and its current VLP2000 version over all the others I have ever worked with and seen. It is a true land system, versus some (inferior) “land module” attached to an Accounting, Production or Engineering system.
I know it is a fact of life that products are always being improved upon, coming out with the countless “New and Improved” versions, just when you think you had the best, but I know you’ll be right there working on it, trying to make our lives easier.
Luigi, thank you so much for all you’ve done for us land-moguls. it has been a terrific ride. |

Visual LandPro 2000 has one of the most comprehensive land management systems on the market today that doesn't require in-house IT support personnel. The program is virtually as different from the old LandPro 6.0 as night and day, with many built-in functions that automatically populate key fields, yet still retains the in-depth data that was available in 6.0. Utilized to its fullest, management of a prospect from inception through leasing, development and/or conveyance to final abandonment can be achieved through a few strokes of the keyboard.
The report capabilities are impressive, offering the ability to track leasing, costs, contracts and obligations with ease, as well as the ability to print assignments and exhibits directly from the program. After interviewing and previewing a dozen different land software systems and providers, I was thoroughly impressed by the superiority of VLP 2000 to the rest of the pack. |

Once the system was up and running, our department just applies updates to the program a couple times a year, the users very rarely come to our department with problems and that is great. |

Mayne & Mertz, Inc. has been a user of LandPro software since 1995. We have gone from LandPro 6 to Visual LandPro 2000 and from a two-person peer to peer network to a full office network server. We have had outstanding support from LandPro through all of the trials and tribulations of starting and changing systems, including numerous hardware compatibility issues. With the help we received from LandPro, we are now administering over 4,000 leases smoothly, effectively and efficiently. Acreage reports of almost any type can be sent to our partners, many of whom rely totally on Mayne & Mertz for their records from complicated bank financing projects to simple assignments. Our partners are amazed at the speed with which we can generate versatile and accurate reports to fit almost any situation with a very small staff. It all starts and ends with Visual LandPro 2000! Congratulations to LandPro on its creation of such an outstanding product.

Over a year ago we decided to make a change to our royalty database, and even more to translate a still large paper file system to electronic. In our office we manage multiple entities and their mineral and royalty ownerships. The database we had only could handle so much and it was an outdated system. We needed a system that could provide access to a large array of information including a combined accounting system all in one. We looked at a lot of products and ended up with LandPro. It has not been easy to adjust to a new system, not to mention the growth of ownership and workload that goes along with it. Luigi and his team at LandPro have made themselves available time and time again to ensure we are completely satisfied with the product and that it works like we want it to.
From the standpoint of royalty owners this system has more than enough capability to store, sort, organize and report large amounts of information. You can easily see what you have to lease, what is leased, what you are getting paid on, and where it is. Bottom line in our business are royalty payments, so to have that information tied into one system with our land information equals convenience and efficiency. Now, with the ability to import electronically formatted check stub information, we are looking forward to an even more convenient and efficient future. Thanks to Luigi and his team at LandPro once again. |

As a client of the LandPro for many years, beginning with the DOS-based 6.0 version and continuing through the latest version of Visual LandPro 2000, my experience with the LandPro has been that they are extremely helpful and always eager to answer questions. As a client, we are provided with immediate customer support and solutions when needed, and it is apparent that LandPro takes great pride in its product and its relationships with clients. I wish to express how much I appreciate all of the hard work you and your company have put into developing VLP. VLP provides the Oil & Gas Land Administration industry with a practical and certainly cost effect way of meeting their needs. Managing Lease records is a very complex task, but VLP has helped to make that task a little easier.

Some times my brain is not connected and I do something that for some reason doesn't work. I can call your office and someone is always there to put me back on the right track! It is so nice to work with a company that answers their phone and doesn't have to call you back! The American Coal Company has been using LandPro for several years. The purchase of our system involved a massive transfer of data from a program written and controlled on a mainframe system. Even though the transfer resulted in cleanup efforts on our part, it was absolutely amazing how well the data was transferred into LandPro.
The lease management part of the system has worked extremely well for us. We maintain approximately 2,000 leases in LandPro, processing annual rental payments and cutting checks for those payments in the system, along with other lease management functions. We are able to transfer the information on the checks cut from the system into an Excel spreadsheet and reconcile our bank statements.
Since LandPro is based on a Windows environment, the system is extremely user friendly. We presently have four users on the system. The ease of use makes it very easy to train someone to use the system. We have been very satisfied with LandPro support – support is just a phone call or email away. |

There is so much in the Book ("just read the manual"), but it is so much nicer when someone shows and tells. The data base class was a wonderful thing! if only I can remember what all went on!! But I know you will be there to walk me through anything! That's what I like most about LandPro, if I have a questions or problem, I just call you and you are always there! (You really need to get a life!) I always get a prompt answer to my questions and if there is a bug, it is fixed in a matter of minutes! Keep up the great work! |

| Various end-user comments Texas |
We have various clients that have dropped various "Other Vendors" for Visual LandPro. Here are some of their comments:
1. "Other Vendor" cannot do mapping.
2. "Other Vendor" requires the user to set up a tract or tracts for every counterpart lease, INSTEAD of one tract connecting all mineral owners and then the leases. The user is UNABLE to determine if there are any ownership problems or even if the entire tract of land is leased. There is NO mineral ownership report, and it is impossible to create one because the mineral ownership is set up on a lease level, not an owner level.
3. An item that impacts how we do our business is the fact that LandPro is tract driven and "Other Vendor" is not. We will have difficulty (but not impossibility) in "Other Vendor" locating leases, wells, etc. by legal description.
4. If you are trying to find an owner that is an additional lessor on a lease, you are unable to find his ownership because additional lessors do not exist in "Other Vendor". Further, there is no owner data sheet to indicate the ownership or where the owner would be.
5. You must set up a working interest deck, billing deck and burden decks on every tract under a lease separately! Instead of one or two decks you may have six or ten! Maintenance is a real problem because you have land decks, master decks, revenue decks and billing decks. The revenue decks and billing decks are in the Accounting module, but before you can make a change there you must first make the changes to the land and master decks. In other words you have a duplicate set of decks, one in land, and one in accounting. There is NO real Mass change ability in "Other Vendor", you have to apply the change separately to separate decks.
6. "Other Vendor" does not have the capability to calculate DOI - They only have a DOI builder where you enter the data. It's like using the DOI portion of LandPro without using the calculations capability. There are no spreadsheets created either.
7. In "Other Vendor" software, all calculations are made at the Tract 1 of the Lease level. It is very difficult to do maintenance when a company sells shallow and deep prospects. All changes must be made manually. So you must move your companies tracts to the 1st position in order to calculate any reports. It is not a simple matter as in LandPro where you have the capability to check mark which Sub-Tract is to be included in Tract and/or Lease Acreage calculations.

| What I don't like about "Other Vendor" is the fact that it is not a tract-based system. The same tract needs to be set over and over for different leases. It is impossible to automatically calculate a Division Order or to generate Mineral Ownership reports and/or tract data sheets. Reports are difficult to extract. Make sure you have an IT person available if you want to get any data out of the system... |
